Social Media/Content Manager

Position Summary:
The Social Media Manager will develop and implement Local Media San Diego’s daily marketing and promotional efforts through Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and Google+, etc. The multi-media content strategy will help to cultivate leads through campaign promotions while increasing brand awareness for 91x, Z90, and Magic 92.5. This position will also assist with SEO strategy. The Social Media Manager will monitor and respond to listener engagement, encouraging online advocacy and expansion of digital outreach efforts. They will work collaboratively with the Digital/Programming/Promotions departments to oversee implementation of all social strategies. The Social Media Manager will attend live events in order to interact with listeners and post photos and videos in real-time to relevant social accounts. Finally, they will report to stakeholders on the ROI of all social efforts.

Essential Job Duties:

Digital Content Creation:

  • Perform initial, in-depth brand discovery to determine ideal demographics for each social media platform (by radio station)
  • Manage editorial content calendar, leading creative development process from ideation to execution for each digital promo campaign
  • Write and edit content that speaks specifically to the users of each platform and demographic of each station in order to increase listener engagement and ROI
  • Ensure consistent brand messaging and voice for each radio station and personality
  • Collaborate with on-air personalities to help them achieve their online goals
  • Leverage partnerships with fan clubs, bands, and brand advocates to maximize exposure for unique content
  • Work with internal teams to expand and organize video content library (X Sessions, etc.)
  • Look into increasing new artist/local talent promotion in order to develop unique, sharable content
  • Live and breathe the station brands and lifestyles.
  • Attend live events; engage with listeners on-site and on-line.

Digital Community Management:

  • This position is an extension of Local Media San Diego’s PR team, monitoring the social presence of each station to ensure timely and appropriate responses to listener queries
  • Oversee social workflow, defining and prioritizing requests and content
  • Promote collaboration both internally and externally
  • Demonstrate flexibility and proficiency for creative problem solving
  • Foster increased engagement with ALL digital platforms
  • Convert people into brand ambassadors and lifelong fans
  • Attend events to interact with listeners and post live photos and videos

Data Analysis:

  • Do a deep dive into engagement trends across all social sites to measure effective posts, campaigns and content
  • Stay up-to-date on social media trends and best practices
  • Monitor all competitors’ campaigns and social strategies
  • Discover and develop new strategies and draw insight from historical data
  • Report on campaign success to key stakeholders (likes, shares, reach, leads, sales, etc)
  • Identify opportunities for each social media platform, provide recommendations

Additional Skills:

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of 5-years experience with Social Media/Digital Content.
  • Experience working with Mac OS, iPhone & Android mobile devices, nightlife, photography, photo and video editing
  • Search Engine Optimization (SEO) strategies and content creatorAptitude for strategic communications, with extraordinary written and verbal skills

Promotions Assistant

Job Description:
Specific duties include, but are not restricted to, the following:

  • Draft proposals with concert venues and 3rd clients for promotional opportunities, including product giveaways, local concerts and events.
  • Regularly update station website events, concerts, contests, and photo galleries on a daily basis and additional content as needed.
  • Coordinate with department to oversee promotional calendar of appearances and giveaways, following up on details for activation (confirmation, promotion activation, delivery of prizes for winners).
  • Organize event folders with updated information mirroring the promo calendar as it develops, communicating pertinent information to street team and jocks.
  • Focus, attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects at the same time.
  • Assist with general overall department duties to the Promotions Director,
  • Promotions Coordinator and other station personnel
  • Office duties may include: working with clients on pre-event preparations, listener correspondence, social network updating, filing, and other duties as needed.


  • Must be able to work at least 10-15 hours a week, including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Reliable, punctual and possess strong social skills
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Position requires a positive attitude, strong customer service and organizational skills
