Hey it’s Rick, Lean on A presents ‘Feel Good Fridays’. Good news is good for your mental health, so here’s a story to help you feel good going into the weekend.

This week’s story comes from the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. Or, in this case, the love of a son for his mother. Dustin Vitale’s mom, Gloria, was diagnosed with terminal bladder cancer last year, and she had just one request: a trip to Egpyt to see the pyramids, one of the seven wonders of the world. It was a dream she had all her life, and a dream Dustin was determined to fulfill for his mom. Dustin’s job as a middle school teacher wasn’t enough to afford such a trip. “I got a kitchen though,” he said. Dustin used his mother’s recipe to make cheesesteak sandwiches for sale for friends and family. Before he knew it, new people were showing up to dustin’s house, asking if they could buy as well. Word of these cheesesteak sandwiches made with love for mom got around he community, so much so that dustin had to get help from a food truck to manage the line of customers up and down the street. Dustin ended up raising enough money to send mom and his entire family of ten on mom’s dream trip to Egpyt later this year. Gloria could not be more proud of her son, “the love, it’s overwhelming,” she says. What an amazing story, congratulations Dustin and to everyone in their community, for coming together for mom.
