This week’s story comes from Atlanta, Georgia, where two co-workers made a discovery that would end up saving both of their husband’s lives. Tia Wimbush and Susan Ellis work together, and both had husbands who were suffering from kidney disease and in need of a transplant. In a twist of luck, it turns out tia’s blood type was a match for Susan’s husband, and Susan’s blood type was a match for tia’s husband, so both women could make the life-saving kidney donation for the other’s husband. They proceeded with the surgeries and all four are recovering well, with both the husband’s bodies accepting their new kidneys. Tia hopes more people will be inspired to become donors. “you can be somebody’s hope,” said tia. “it could be you to show someone a glimpse of what humanity really means.” well said.
