This newlywed couple gave their first dance to the groom’s grandparents who never got to have their own first dance at their wedding. Criminal defence attorney Samantha Estepa, 26, from Hicksville, New York, US and her now-husband Zachary Graff, 27, married on April 2, 2022. When it came to the evening reception, the couple chose to put the spotlight on Zachary’s grandparents instead, Elaine and Morton. When Elaine and Morton wed 65 years ago, they were unable to have their first dance because Morton was sitting shiva after his mother passed away before the nuptials. Shiva is a Jewish period of mourning following a family member’s death, and for seven days mourners can’t participate in celebrations, including dancing.
